Hinterlands Focuses on Orphans
in Europe
The growth of HIV/AIDS infection is higher in Eastern Europe than anywhere else in the world. Young people aged 15-30 account for over 80% of all infections in Russia and Ukraine. Hinterlands will be partnering with a U.S. based group, iOrpan, to film and see first hand this devastating phenomenon plaguing Russia and Ukraine. Read more about the work being done by iOrhpan
Hinterlands will be sponsoring G1 - Generation One - a national schalarship. G1 will be a merit and need-based scholarship to benefit high school students who have demonstrated scholastic potential and are first-generation Americans of naturalized parents. Other sponsors of the G1 will include prominent national and international corporations as well as private donors. To learn more about this project and how you may participate, contact Anton Cannaday, coordinator.
In 2009 Hinterlands will sponsor Stories From The Hinterlands: A film short featuring the people of the Hinterlands. "We hope that the Stories from the Hinterlands Short Film project will inspire filmmakers and artists to think outside of the of traditional venues of film making, experimenting with the documentary form.” said Courtney Collins filmmaker and competition coordinator.
